Teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely.

A pistol, or handgun, is a firearm designed to be fired while being held in one hand. While such firearms are small and compact, they can be the hardest to learn. Students learn: ◾NRA rules for safe gun handling
◾Pistol parts and operation
◾Shooting fundamentals
◾Range rules
◾Shooting from the bench rest position and two handed standing position
◾Cleaning the pistol

The are no prerequisites for taking this course and the material can be understood by mature people of all ages.

Course Duration:
This course is at least 8 hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols.
Course Completion:
Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules Brochure and Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet.
Students will also receive a course completion certificate upon successfully completing course and examination.
